I think I have the same concerns as many of us, including with the first term this prompt asks us to consider. My concern with the word media is finding a stable, workable definition that I agree with, at least the gist. As my significant other is an anthropology student, I end up having a lot of conversations about "culture", though not "media culture".
I want to talk about culture in a way that is not American-centric. I'm hoping that I can conceptualize a meaning for culture that extends beyond my own in a meaningful way, because I would hope that I can understand more than where/how/that within which I was raised.
This class is, hopefully, going to help me complicate my understanding of media and culture in a way that also helps me find some stability in terms. I also think it will help me understand the other big web project I have so far this semester - finding a way to best promote our GA union.

I'm not sure you'll ever have a "stable" definition of these terms, but "workable" seems do-able.
The second week's work is all about creating (tentative) definitions, definitions we'll continually consider over the remaining weeks of the semester, so it sounds as though we are moving in directions useful to you, Anna.
