Reposting My Final Project

I don't know why, but apparently Blogger was having problems and deleted all posts between Wednesday night and this morning, which means that I have to repost this. Enjoy, again.

I'm posting the comments others sent while Blogger was being a jerk below:

From Aimee Lau:

Hi Anna –

Another prezi! I just looked at Megan’s and that was my first experience with a prezi this semester. In the beginning of the semester, when we evaluate each other’s media charts, I know there were prezis, but I ended up not looking at the for some reason. Not quite sure why! This is a really interesting format for displaying ideas and arguments.

I enjoyed viewing your prezi – though I bring my own biases as well. :) I am also a teacher, a student – filling some of the very same roles you do…and although I am part of our TA union, it is not by my own choosing. Yes, yes….I will admit it openly and honestly…I am on the other side of the fence. I’m a conservative, and to an extent (though I don’t necessarily agree with the way it was done), support the strides being taken to limit collective bargaining. I disagree with the fact that I am forced to participate in the union and to pay union dues…and that I have no recourse or choice with respect to this.

Looking at your discussion of the bias of Fox, I would argue the same for other networks. To me, it seems as though there are many more networks with a liberal bias compared to one network – Fox – with a distinctively conservative perspective. One particular television personality, Matt Lauer, (though I do enjoy the Today Show) often has a distinctly left bent when asking his questions. His support of leftist interviewees on the show is quite clear in the questions he asks and the supportive way in which he communicates with them. His anti-right sentiment is also present, in the way that he asks questions of conservative guests, often times immediately putting these individuals on the defensive.

I do agree with your discussion of medium constraint – we are very much limited by the media choices we make…and there is only so much that can be put on television with the time constraints that are present in our programming.

Despite our highly differing views, I very much enjoyed your prezi! We can agree to disagree here! But, I thought your “other” mediation of your paper was very well done!

Good luck in these last days of the semester!

From Nic Learned:

Anna,

I'm commenting here because your dumb blog won't let me comment there.

Fortunately, that was the only not-awesome part of your project. In terms of finish, I'm really impressed with the way you crafted this Prezi. A lot of that has to do with the awesome font and arrangement of information, but it was also good in an organizational sense--it progressed through an argument much better than a lot of Prezis do (they often, I find, just throw quotes out there and it's up to the viewer to do the work).

What was best about it, however, was the way you employed the video to *actual* work in your project. The reason this was so successful, I think, was that first you're making a good point and you found video that worked with it really well, but also because you positioned viewers to get what you wanted them to get out of the videos with a lot of precision. Kudos.

And of course, you know I'm down with your argument. You should make this prezi public!
